Welcome to

Vogeltown School

Vogeltown School, in the heart of New Plymouth, is a warm, innovative and progressive school mixing the very best of the future, with proven values and attitudes of the past. At the centre of our school are the people – students, parents, and staff; all working together to ensure that every child gets the best possible learning opportunities.

We look forward to meeting you.

Our Vision
Maanaki Whenua • Maanaki Tangata • Haere Whakamua
Care for the Land • Care for the People • Go Forward

Our Beliefs

Promoting inclusiveness and creativity in a quality learning environment.

Expert teachers who implement a challenging and engaging curriculum.

Embedding foundation curriculum skills (reading, writing, mathematics).

Enabling children to be active learners and leaders.

Our Values

We believe that these shared values will be as important for children in the future as they are today. They should be encouraged by the school and the home so the children will reach their full potential, develop positive relationships and contribute positively to society. Our school values are:

I.R.O.C.K

This acronym stands for –

Inclusive | Whakauru • Respectful Whakaute • Original | Taketake • Courageous | Maia • Kind | Manaaki

These values are encouraged each and every day at Vogeltown. The behaviours we want for each of these values can be seen in our ‘Vogeltown School learners dispositions’.

Out of Zone Enrolments
20 May 2026

Dear families

Since the last ballot for out-of-zone places the Vogeltown School Board has received enquiries from parents of out-of-zone students seeking to enrol their children at the school this year.  Because the Board operates an enrolment scheme it is usually unable to enrol out of zone students between ballot periods however, as some places have become available, and there is no waiting list,  the board has determined that two places are likely to be available to out-of-zone students at Year 0 for immediate enrolment.

The Board is prepared to receive applications for these places, in addition to those it already holds, so long as they reach the school by Wednesday 27 May.  An out of zone application form can be collected from the school office.

If a ballot is required, it will be held on Friday 29 May.  Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

Thank you.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
